We all know the Johnny Manziel saga so I won’t bother rehashing how we got to where we are. Is he the greatest NFL quarterback on the planet? No. Is he the worst? Absolutely not. Is he the best quarterback the Browns have? Probably not. But it doesn’t matter. He should be playing for the rest of the year.
Josh McCown is NOT the reason the Cleveland Browns have seven losses. He may be the reason they have two wins. But again… it doesn’t matter. Manziel should be on the field for the rest of the season.
First off… McCown is not at 100% healthwise. I don’t care what Coach Pettine says. He’s not. Anyone with two eyes can see it. Why get the guy hurt?
Secondly, McCown is NOT going to be the long term solution for this team’s quarterbacking woes. Manziel may be. But we’ll never know if we don’t watch him play.
This season is lost. We need to understand what sort of asset (or liability) we have in Manziel. And the only way we can find out, is to let him play.
